Tamana is  a non-profit voluntary organisation registered in March 1984. Tamana navigates the hopes and dreams of the differently abled by enabling them to become integrated and inclusive members of our society through our three centres in Vasant Vihar, New Delhi. We have Tamana Special school which caters to the small children, Tamana Autism Centre: School of hope for those on the Autism spectrum and Tamana Nai Disha for the young adults. Tamana for its work in this field is recognized by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India, Department of Social Welfare; Govt. of NCT Delhi, is registered with the National Trust and is in special consultative status with the United Nations’s Economic and Social Council.


Some of Tamana’s fortes are: 

 

  1. Tamana’s Autism Center-School of Hope is India’s first rehabilitate and research center for autistic individuals providing holistic services under one roof and also houses India’s first sensory integration lab. 

 

  1. Tamana Nai Disha is a specialized skill training centre where students are trained in skills. as per their potential to affect economic independence and self reliance.

 

  1. Early Intervention Program: At Tamana the intervention starts as early as the age of 18 months with an aim to enable all the differently abled individuals to lead a happy and fulfilling life as an inclusive and integrated member of our society.
  2. Individualised Education Program for each student which is created post diagnostics by our team of   of special educators, therapists, counsellors, vocational skill trainers

 

  1. residential training programmes(Hostel) for intellectually challenged and autistic males between ages 14-30 years which trains them to be independent to the best of their potential. The hostel has students from J&K, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, UP, Tamil Nadu and Himachal. 

 

  1. An outreach program for parents where they are equipped to provide interventions and support to the special individuals at home.This is followed by regular assessment and visits.

 

  1. Teacher training cell which runs courses in special education recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). These courses for aspiring professionals are aimed at skill set enhancement in the disability and inclusive education space in Delhi as well as on a Pan India basis.


  1. Reverse Integration Program: where they integrate typically developing students from economically weaker sections of the society with special needs students in a special school setting. This initiative not only leads to Life enrichment of children from economically weaker sections of the society but also provides opportunities for peer learning to the special needs students of Tamana.


  1. Online Program: Covid-19 led us to shift our rehabilitative program online. Our team of specialists are providing a comprehensive program comprising of special education, NIOS, therapeutic interventions, counselling, extra-curricular and allied services to the differently abled through various online platforms in one to one and small groups setting to ensure that they have continuous access to their learning & development needs to facilitate their inclusion and integration.
